YOUTHS AND TODAY’S SEX APPEAL

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil as a roaring lion walketh about; seeking whom he may devour – 1 Pet 5:8

A couple of months ago, I heard on the local news that an eighteen year old girl died as a result of abortion complications. About four hours later, I heard again that a ten year old girl in Romania gave birth. How old was the father? Thirteen years! Such is the state of the world we live in today.
Sex is a word that has become so common that it cannot be ruled out of our everyday activities. We often hear of phrases like sexy outfits, sexy men/women, safe sex, sex change, sexy look etc and other immoral terms that make us want to plug our ears. Sex has become a phenomenon that no one can honestly say he is not bothered about.
The Scripture says our enemy is walking about seeking whom to devour. Remember that when the sons of God came to present themselves before God, the devil also came. When God asked him where he had been, his response was that he was going to and fro in the earth, walking up and down in it. Can we say his response typifies a man without mission? Wrong! His answer implied that he was a man on mission: to devour and he has never rested since then.
One of the tools that the enemy is actively using these days to lure people into sin is sex appeal through the media. Sex has become the number one marketing tool today. Pictures, lyrics, mottos, slogans, etc promoting sexual immorality abound all over the place in the marketing sector. It’s no surprise to see contraceptive companies using youths in their various adverts.

The question we need to ask at this point is why are they focusing so much on this age group? The reason is because they see them as fertile ground to grow their seed of destruction. Youths generally don’t forget such things when they come in contact with them. Their energy and curiosity often push them to the point of experimenting what they see or hear. This is the ultimate gateway to sexual perversion and immorality.
The youths need to be on guard these days and Christians need to rise up and cry to God. We cannot sit down, fold our hands, and allow this evil trend to continue. We must reprove every work of darkness. We need to continually educate our youths that any form of involvement in sex, no matter how slight it may seem will definitely attract God’s judgment.

God says He will judge the immoral and adulterers (Heb 13:4). Everything the Lord says must come to pass. If the Lord says He will judge a man, nothing and absolutely nothing, can save such a fellow except the mercy of God.
Brethren, we are soldiers of the Lord and will continue to keep watch over His flocks. Though ordinary people may not see any devil behind today’s sex appeal, we are not ignorant of his devices. May God bestow upon us the grace to stand against every sexual immorality.
